Mobile Friendly Check-Ins
Project Overview
The 'Check-In' is a core feature of the StandOut platform. It asks team members to rate their work week in terms how engaged and how productive they felt, then it helps them pinpoint their priorities for the coming week. Most importantly it allows them to share these insights with a single or multiple team leaders. The task here was to give team members on the mobile friendly version of the app the ability to begin a conversation with any given team leader, just as they could in the DLT version.
Design Process
As per usual I began developing userflows for the team leader and the team member. But I wanted to spend some time researching apps like Facebook and LinkedIn in order to incorporate some of the thing they were doing right.
My Role
I was worked closely with one engineer and and a QA specialist to make sure this project went smoothly. I researched this project, and followed that up by developing userflows, wireframes, and hi-fidelity mocks.
Challenges
The mobile friendly version of the app never got much TLC, so it was a bit buggy. I found myself constantly stopping what I was doing and recording them in Bugzilla. Everything else was a lot of fun.
Sketches & Wireframes
I had a lot of fun putting these together as I knew giving team members the ability to initiate conversations was a great value add as it was was easily implemented, but would have a significant impact on user experience.
Priority Conversations
Team members now have the ability to initiate conversation with any of their team leaders. In addition, the avatars give users an easy way to distinguish who they are commenting to. Now all it needs are badges to clue users in to when they have comments waiting for them.
